What is ISO/IEC 42001:2023

ISO/IEC 42001:2023 — or simply ISO 42001 — is the first international, certifiable standard focusing on AI Governance, Risk and Compliance management. It is “an international standard that specifies requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining, and continually improving an artificial intelligence management system (AIMS) within organizations.”

The primary purpose for startups and SMBs to adopt ISO 42001 is to help your organization establish a structured AIMS and demonstrate trust among enterprise customers through the ethical and transparent development, deployment, and monitoring of AI systems.

According to
Gartner Research, enterprise customers are scrunizing AI vendor solutions due to two key Enterprise AI risk concerns: Data Compromise and Third Party Risk Management.

ISO 42001 is a proven standard aim to systematically operationalize policies and controls to identify, quantify, mitigate and monitor risks associated with AI technology to provide the trust needed for safe, secure and compliant Enterprise AI adoption.
